Hair Update...

Yes! Divas, I am still a natural beauty. As I have mentioned before *just in case some of you doubted me* I will never go back to a relaxer. Although life as a mom has distorted my usual hair routine, I still know that my hair is much healthier than it was when I was addicted to the hair crack back in the day. This coming October I will have officially been natural for a total of eight years and I do not regret it one bit.

Today, my newly revised routine has consisted of a wash once a week and protective styles*SOMETIMES* wink..wink.. Pictures coming soon!!

Jealous Much???...

I hate her hair, because I want is oh so badly.

Ya'll, when my hair becomes this massive, you itches all over the land will hate me..I will def be that ish in your local movie theater blocking your view of the dialog on the big screen...You know the one make sure my hair is centered smack dead in the way of you seeing your favorite artist concert...or how about I will be the itch that hit you in the face with it as I walk by you in your faviorite nightclub??? Auhh the glory....A true crown of glory...this my dollfaces is the ultimate, undeniable goal...stay tuned!!

Protective hair for growth...

Okay, so you all know that recently i had my hair bleached to a Honey Blondie-ish pigment in the middle and the perimeter of my hair was a very dark brown color. I noticed that my ends looked a little raggedy and decided that it was time for me to have my ends clipped.

I decided to go to a professional, not realizing that she did not know much about natural hair textures and the variations in its appearance. She assumed that all of the ends that looked "bushy" needed to be chopped off. Due to having 4a-ab type hair, you can imagine that a great deal of my hair was cut, for no reason at all.

Initially I was angry, but decided that there was nothing that I could do, so i quickly moved on.

I have noticed that it is growing much quicker, and decided that I would wear lots of protective styles and go back to using more holistic products.

I told ya so!!

I told you guys that I was going to leave my hair alone for the remainder of the winter, and that is exactly what I have done.

I shampooed my hair with Taliah Waajid stimulating herbal cleanser and conditioned with the enhancing herbal conditioner. I then detangled my hair and moisturized my scalp with Design Essentials Herbal Complex 4 Hair and Scalp treatment.

I decided that the easiest thing for me to do with all of this hair, is to flat twist it and pin the back up so that my ends are protected and rubbing against my skin. This simple style took me about and hour and a half to complete (shampooing and drying included)

At this point I have no clue how long it will last, but as usual, I will keep you ladies posted!

P.S. I think it is time for some new color...what do you think??

Still off the hair crack? ...YEP!

Initially when I started this blog I wanted to discuss my hair a lot in hopes of inspiring people to love there natural beauty no matter how curly, or coily it may be. Over time I feel that I have unintentionally left that subject behind, and divas I feel that it is time for an update!

I have had lots of growth, added new color, and played around with various styles. I have yet to invest in a protective style,but I promise one is sure to come. I plan to start doing picture tutorials for my 4a 4b sistas in hopes of keeping the motivation flowing...look above for some of my latest hair pics...xoxo divas!!

Why did Tyra everything is always about me Banks make such a bug deal about wearing her real hair on television? African American women all over the world wear there real hair *relaxed* in public everyday...The realness falls in when a African American woman can proudly walk around with her hair in it's natural state and feel comfortable. This episode was such BS and a ploy to get the unsuspecting prepubescent kiddies to watch in my opinion, just like the episode when she had the African American women and children talk about "good hair vs. bad hair"....I wish someone in hollyweird would just keep it 100 and admit that they do give into the whole brainwashing scheme that "good hair" and "bad hair" exist and, just admit that they think that we are better if we look European and hide our true identities...I mean really...why bring up the discussion, when you are part of the problem?...Nothing is wrong with wanting to switch it up and give it to the stans and haters, but there is something wrong with covering up that identity and pretending that it's okay.

P.S. those Louboutin's are worn down, I know she can get another pair! ughh...LOL

I am not sure why all the bloggers have filled themselves with lets hate on Solange for the heck of it, juice aka HATER-AIDE??? I am really feeling her cut and I think that she is absolutely adorable! She obviously added some product to her hair because it has more of a curl pattern and she added a part to it which I think works very well for.

I have mentioned before that I shaved my head back in 2004 and because of the way the world reacts to the true beauty of the African American woman, I did not have the confidence to rock my au' natural short hair, so I to was confined to the wigs and weaves! It was not until 2008...four years later that I became bold enough to do me......... just to keep it one hundred I can't honestly say that I gained more confidence I just decided that if a MO FO dared to say something to me I had something for his or her a$$...After a few trips out and about with my "I wish a negro would say something to me, today" attitude I realized that I was more paranoid then anything! Really people didn't pay as much attention to me as I thought they did and as long as I walked with my head held high and allowed my confidence to ooz out, there was nothing to be said!......... I said all of this to say LEAVE this girl alone yall....the way you wear your hair is a choice and sometimes she feels like a wig and sometimes she don't....SOOOO WHAT!!!

It's Hair Time!!!!!

I wanted to show you guys how my Bantu knot out turned out!.... Lately I have been having hair problems! Although I put mounds of Shea butter in my hair on a daily basis, it still feels crunchy and dry. Honestly I think that it’s this darn Florida heat and I probably need a protective style! In the mean time though, I decided to bantu my hair, oil my scalp and clip some ends...Here are the results…..

The infamous cut....

Earlier this week photos surfaced of Solange and her new cut, and the bloggers went wild. Most of them seem to think that she was inspired to cut her tresses because of Amber Rose! But Ghetto Beau Solange said no..no..no..honey…on her oh so famous twitter account to get some things straight and this is what she said.... Well dayum....nuff said....I guess she told yall! Plus as black women it seems that we would be more supportive, since we have all fallen victim to the European standards of beauty, instead of accepting our own definition of beauty. More black women should take note from lil' sis, cause miss thing knows what she is talking about!!!

*Miss Teyana Taylor* is one of the most swagalicious chicks in the game her style is so fresh and colorful and she obviously knows how to make a pair of sneakers look sexy!.....Not only is Teyana fashionable in her own way she also has massive natural hair that a textured coco diva like myself can't help but to admire! Her curly-Hawk is so well put together that one just can't imagine how she was able to get all of that hair to stay in place!...My hair hopes to grow up some day and be as massive as hers......*sigh*..... but until then I will sit back and admire!...You Go Teyana!

Out of the mouths of babes...

Have you ever noticed that children are brutally honest, especially while judging ones appearance?

As I previously stated, I love...love...love wearing my natural hair in a twist out, it's like my all time favorite, that is until I discovered that my hair is long enough for a "almost puff"like du'.

After watching one too many youtube videos this past weekend, I tried something new. After finishing my hair, I was invited to a birthday party at a park. When my aunt and her two children arrived to my home so that we could go to this party, my little cousin with his big baby eyes gazing up at me said...and I quote "Asharey your hairr is pretty, I'm glad you changed it because it was alwayz tha same"....wow I thought, he must have really been tired of my puff! lol.

What do you think?

It's still the puff, just a little flare in the front! LOL

No more beans for me.....

I noticed something that is sooooo freakin weird to me. While running my fingers though my hair (which I do often, lol ), I realized that my edges are not as nappy as they used to be. One of my excuses for getting relaxers when I was getting them was that I hated how my edges would roll up tightly when it was time to retouch my new growth, it looked as if I had little black beans attached to the outer perimeter of my head. When I initially transitioned into natural the same bean like attachments were the reason I chose to wear wigs and weaves. Eventually after research I discovered that with proper care, moisture and consistency my hair would change and now I am proud to say that my edges look better than ever. I know to some people this is like not so big of a deal, but in my mind this is HUGE! No more beans for me!! Yaaaaayyya!

The Puff.....

Okay so it's not the worlds greatest puff but it's mine and I bleepin love it!.....You ladies know that when natural most of us tend to get length crazy and we all want to be able to style it however we want, and for me this is it....well kinda. Someday I want a huge Afro, I mean so huge that it is ridiculous, but until then I am happy with my nappy little Puff!

Oh! and if you are wondering how, I simply co-washed my hair using the tightlycurly.com method, then I finger combed my hair, trimmed the, twisted sections of the hair into Bantu Knots, went to sleep, woke up the next mourning, took the hair down, pulled it up with the or headband with stocking and there you have it "The Puff"......

A little hair flare......

I tried something new with my hair...It was a while ago but I never had the opportunity to actually post the pictures. It was inspired by a fellow YouTube diva whose id name is Prettydimples01. She always post videos with unique hair styles that work for us Au' natural sistas'. She always explained in previous videos that no matter the texture of the hair or the length trying the styles out may prove to be beneficial and cute....So I say to you try it and just see that the possibilities are endless.....

㏄♡ Oh! it's no mistake.......

Ah! Texture....For years I hated my
hair....In my eyes it was nappy, dry, ugly and needed to be corrected. I am from
a Christian background where we are taught that God made us the way he wanted
us, and therefore no corrections are needed. It's funny that I was taught by my
grandmother that God makes no mistakes but she is part of the reason that I had
such a complex with my hair.

1st there were the tight ponytails
packed with product to make my hair shine and lay like a wet dog.

2nd there was the infamous
"Jerry Curl" or "S-Curl" as some would call it that actually made some people
think that they had what some referred to as "Good hair", but who were they
fooling?...Themselves?

3rd there was the straightening
comb/Hot comb, sizzle...sizzle...sizzle as my SCALP burned to a crisp from the
mounds of petroleum, palms sweaty from the fear of being burned and my granny
fussing "If you don't wanna be burned you better sit still girl"!

4th the
relaxer....umph...umph...umph....Sitting at the hair salon for hours, hiding
from rain, steam....hell any kind of moisture for that matter, burning scalp,
chemical burn and product build up.....and most importantly MY HAIR WOULD NOT
GROW.(it would grow to just under my ear, and no further).... But nobody around
me not even the stylist suggested that MAYBE just MAYBE it could be the
chemicals.....Instead they lead me to believe that I had bad hair, as if the
good lord above made a mistake and there is just no
hope!...WHY?...WHY???

㏄♡ Snap, Crackle & Poppin all ova.....

I totally need a routine...*sigh*.....Lately I feel as if I am all over the place.....*screams*.....maybe I will watch a few more videos and see just how many ideas I can get that work for me. Also is it just me or is type four hair dry as the Sahara desert! My hair is always thirsty, so I am thinking I will do some routine that consist of frequent co-washes, daily moisture hair spritz and Shea butter because I hate touching my hair and it sounds like a bowl of Rice Krispies *Snap, Crackle and Pop! I know it's hard to tell from the pic...but HONEEEYYY it is D.R.Y!!!...I heard that the key to maintaining type 4 hair is moisture, moisture, moisture....so I will keep you posted!
